Zeke

Rocco
I’m not perfect by any means. I’ve done my share of dirt. I can’t even say for sure that my dirty deeds are done. I love women . . . a lot of them. As a result, I’ve had a few babies along the way—babies that I haven’t always done right by; so I’m setting out to change that and do what a real father is supposed to do. Problem is the woman that I’m “with” doesn’t really grasp the concept of what it is I’m trying to do and her reaction to it all causes a whole lot of chaos.

I’m territorial. I don’t make excuses for it. It’s who I am. And when I feel that somebody is trying to step into my zone and steal what belongs to me, I react. This chick, Malina, who opened her legs to my man and had his child, thinks she’s going to come in with her daughter and claim a spot that never belonged to her. She’s dead wrong. If I have to show her what that means, that’s what it’ll be. But she won’t like it if it does come down to that, so if I was her, I’d tread carefully.
“Family Ties” is a love story at its core, but inside of this love story, many other themes appear; the primary one being that love really has no boundaries when it comes to family…

I don't think that I've ever used the word unscrupulous in regular conversation but it was the first word that came to mind after finishing this book. This book was well written but I could not get with story. For one, I never connected with the book because it didn't feel organic, it felt rather contrived and unrealistic. Life if full of conflicts of interest and dilemmas but with so much at stake with the familial ties/bonds, I can't see it being quite as easy as Malina and Zeke's magnetic attraction that resulted in consummation within hours of meeting. Then we are expected to believe and buy into this insta-love connection. The Kia/Rocco story went in an extreme direction with no real purpose--I am glad Rocco finally saw the light but couldn't it have been done without the drugging/kidnapping/shooting supblot? What I also considered a reach and actually down right odd was for Rocco nor Malina's mother to not take issue with Malina and Zeke hooking up. Finally, I wish we would have been spared Laney's betrayal. I think there was more than enough drama to avoid that unfortunate storyline. This book was decent but not enjoyable--definitely not a book that left me feeling good.Product details

Perri never ceases to amaze me with her writing. This story had a twist that I was never expecting. She kept me on the edge of my seat. This story shows that you can find love in the most mysterious ways.
Of course I enjoyed the read. There's nothing like a Perri Forrest read. And this one has all the drama, suspense and of course the hot sexy stuff. This was real and down to earth. πππππ
This book was awesome! From beginning to end it was enthralling. The protagonist Malina was a strong single mother who earned the love and respect of an equally awesome guy named Zeke. I enjoyed the author's exploration of family relationships. I also thought she was very realistic in her situations. Certainly this novel reflected real life stories! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a bomb story!
I enjoyed this book because it tells a story that covers many issues. The reality of life and love isn't always what people want, but great things can come out of a what most conceive as a morally wrong situation. This story shows just that and it does it in a very real way! I grew up with a similar situation and I thank the author for showing that love and family is not text book. I recommend this book to anyone that thinks real love is worth jumping hurdles and ignoring criticism.
Let's not pretend that this has never happened in real life and let's not get all in our feelings and be negative of the situation either. The book was well written and portrayed a real life situations that just maybe we don't hear about everyday but it does occur. Instead of being judgmental of the storyline take a minute and really read it and get the lessons that are told within the story, love, trust, mistrust, manipulation etc. and there all there with a subtle lesson to be learned. It was not my regular speed but it was a very good relatable book and I look forward to reading more from this Author!
Peri has done it again!!
This story is based on a girl who had a one night stand that resulted in her being pregnant by a guy named Rocco. After raising her daughter for 3 years on her own he finally wants to know his child but being a mama bear Melina has some reservations about it. But when she allows her daughter to meet him for the first time she didn't think she would get the reaction of others especially from Rocco's uncle Zeke.
Zeke gas always been a player but when a beautiful mocha woman named Melina arrives on the scene he makes the decision that he have to have her no matter the cost.
I've read many of Perri books and this is one you won't be disappointed by!!
I like the closeness that Malina and her mother shared along with their love for Mahri. Rocco was a mess in the beginning but so glad he came around to be the good father that he could’ve been in the beginning but hey it’s never too late. It’s a shame how some females are so wrapped up in theses guys that they lose themselves and their mind and always and too easily blame the other woman. Zeke, Zeke, Zeke....he sounds so damn sexy and down to earth, he had me worried for a minute though. Laney was the bomb godmother and she and Malina had a very strong bond but as you know anything can be broken and even put back together. I also liked the way Rosalind and Rocco’s whole family stepped up and made it right.....
